Google
on Tuesday previewed a new version of Google Contacts for Web with an
improved interface, new features and more. The new Google Contacts is
available for Gmail users to try out. Google Apps users will get the
feature soon, with Google says it is working on it.Along with a 'fresh look and feel', the new preview of Google Contacts - accessible from here - can club contacts, circles, and frequently contacted people in Gmail in one place.
Google says that the new Contacts ensures that the information is accurate and updated from contact's Google profile information. It includes a new version of "Find Duplicates" functionality, which is said to be rebuilt from the ground up and is better at figuring duplicate entries.
Lastly, users will be able to see the most recent emails and meetings with a person directly in their contact card. "So whether it's been two days or two years since your last conversation, it's easier than ever to pick up right where you left off," noted Sean Purcell, Product Manager on official Gmail blog.
In other news, Google started updating the Inbox by Gmail app (version 1.3) on Monday, bringing new features and more Material Design-themed icons. While the update is not yet rolled out to Google Play India, the Google-signed apk file is available via AndroidPolice.
