Twitter’s blog shared that with the new friend-finding tool, users can seamlessly create their own social graph with their users’ contact list. It added that Digits will match both mutual or one-way connections so users who are already on the service, will know immediately which of their contacts are also using your app and they can also be alerted when a friend joins later.
Twitter said that, “By delivering an experience fit for the individual user, you can increase the adoption of your app and retention among your user base. New users will know immediately which of the people they know best are using your app and current users can be ambassadors for the new initiates.”
For the privacy conscious, the new feature is opt-in and Twitter says it will not share the social graph users create in an app or service with third-party apps, pointed out The Next Web. For security purposes, the other two-factor verification feature added to Digits requires a phone number sign up and users can create a verification code that they will use to login. This code acts as a second layer of protection and would keep your account safe if you lost your or misplaced your phone.
Developers can access Digits by downloading Fabric and installing the Twitter Kit. For users who already have Digits, head to the Android or iOS docs for a complete walk-through on implementing friend-finding and two-step verification.
