According to Phonescoop, Yota Devices plans to launch an Indiegogo campaign in the spring and sell the phone for around $600 (approx. Rs 37,300). The report further adds that the upcoming smartphone with feature an e-paper display on its backside.
The device will be compatible with both AT&T and T-Mobile. The YotaPhone 2 is also expected to get Android 5.0 Lollipop before it reaches the US. The company also plans an overhauled 2.0 version of the API that will bring third-party app support for the e-paper screen.
The main display of the handset measures 5-inch with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. It also features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and 8-megapixel camera.
The YotaPhone entered the Indian market last year in October for a price of Rs 23,499. The device sports a 4.3-inch full colour 720 x 1280 LCD screen on one side and a 4.3-inch 640 x 360 pixel e-ink display on the other side. The device will essentially double up as a phone and an e-reader, all at the same time. The YotaPhone packs a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by an 1,800mAh battery.
